The Japanese name Gojira is a mixture of "gorilla" (gorilla) "kujira" (whale): the filmmakers' concept was to conceive a terrestrial creature as strong as a gorilla, but living in water and as big as a whales.
The first producers were influenced by the tremendous carnivorous dinosaurs from the Jura era due to their upright stance and the structure of their skull.

There are also several variations. First of all, Godzilla's size has gradually risen over the years (sometimes even throughout the same film).
Godzilla was just 50 meters tall in the first film of 1954. It was 100 seven meters long in 1998. Throughout its history, Godzilla's influence has changed a lot.
It has always been powerful and partly or completely invulnerable to conventional weapons. It can also spread a kind of hot flame in all Japanese films.
Without considering his judo movements, a "electric bite" or his abilities to foresee his futures, he also learned to run, throw fireballs and rays out of his eyes.
The two American films, the movie of 1998 and the film of 2014, appear to paint the more "true" Godzilla without particularly unlikely power or unbelievable features.
The 1998 Godzila in particular fed fish, while all the others fed "radiation" in different types, including that of 2014.
Also from a historical point of view, the "King of Monsters" had a secure link to nuclear power. The United States tested the first hydrogen bombs in the Pacific in 1954 when the first film about Godzilla was released.
It was a new kind of bomb which multiplied previous fission bomb radioactive hazards. Less than ten years ago, this last sort of weapon bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The conflict between the US and soviet Union became increasingly evident as an armed confrontation among superpowers fitted with unimaginable nuclear weapons of control.
Godzilla is an ancient beast, aroused by a nuclear blast, in its first film of 1954.
